On June 25 we were given a tour of the CMHA St. George's Park
Community Garden. We had volunteered with this project from
2011-2015. Bursting with well-deserved pride and passion Teresa
Pearson, CMHA Program Manager explained how the project has
grown in recent years. There's a story for every bed and every
gardener. Each one is proof of the personal and collective
relevance of growing and sharing food. Even with delays
from a cold wet spring the raised beds were lush with produce,
creativity and community spirit! In 2016 CMHA Grey Bruce won the
Aviva Community Fund Grant.
Thomas Dean,Landscape designer has been involved since 2015.
His interests in this community garden covers many areas such as
growing food, designing and operating the solar food dehydrator and
installing espalier structures for apple trees. His latest project is
the healing labrinyth.
Drop by for a visit!
You may not need the produce but this place is a testament of food
for the soul.
